JAKARTA — The Sub-Department of Works, Spatial Planning, and Land (Citata) of South Jakarta will seal the Fourthwall padel court located in the Cilandak area. The sealing is scheduled for Tuesday, 3 March 2026 at approximately 10:00 Western Indonesian Time.

Head of South Jakarta Citata Sub-Department Andy Lazuardy confirmed that the action is being taken because the building does not yet possess a Building Permit (PBG).

“Yes, (the sealing) will be tomorrow around 10:00 WIB,” Andy told Kompas.com on Monday, 2 March 2026.

Fourthwall management representative Fajar Edi Putra acknowledged that the company has not yet obtained the PBG. However, he stated that the permit application was submitted as early as August 2025, before construction of the court commenced.

“Our PBG permit application was actually submitted back in August. The latest update is that it simply has not yet been issued to this day,” Fajar said on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

To date, there has been no official statement from the authorities regarding why the permit has not been issued.

Beyond the permit issue, the presence of the padel court has also prompted complaints from neighbouring residents. The gameplay activity is said to cause noise disturbance, particularly from ball impacts on rackets and polycarbonate walls, as well as from player shouts.

According to residents, this noise can be heard inside their homes and affects sleep quality and the comfort of working from home.

Idham noted that he and other residents have filed up to three complaints regarding the noise disturbance within a single week. However, he believes these complaints have not received adequate response.

He also visited the management to request the installation of soundproofing on the court walls or temporary suspension of operations until a solution is implemented. However, the request was denied.

“We asked them to install soundproofing. Until there is soundproofing, please do not operate. Those are the two things we requested. And the management refused. Because from a business perspective, it would not be profitable,” he said.

Feeling he was not getting a solution, Idham subsequently posted his complaint on social media. This post ultimately attracted the attention of the local government and led to the plan to seal the facility.
