Jakarta – South Jakarta’s Water Resources Sub-Agency has installed wooden stakes (dolken) to address six collapsed rental properties on the Ciliwung riverbank, specifically on Jalan X, RT 06/10, Kebon Baru Village, Tebet District, following a landslide that occurred on Friday, 6 March.

“Our temporary intervention is simply installing wooden stakes,” said Junjung Paulus, Head of Maintenance Section at South Jakarta’s Water Resources Sub-Agency, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to him, the length of the wooden stakes installed was adjusted to the size of the affected land to prevent further landslides. “The stakes are installed along the entire length of the collapsed area,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the head of RT 06/10, Kebon Baru Village, Irma stated that the six rental properties had long been vacant, as tenants and owners abandoned them due to the risky ground conditions near the river. “Because of the landslide on Friday, 6 March, six rental properties were destroyed because they were located right at the river’s edge and the ground had already subsided, leading to abandonment,” she said.

“When the landslide happened, there were no people present. When heavy rain falls and the water level of the Ciliwung river rises, the house foundations are eroded by water, causing the structures to collapse,” she added.

Meanwhile, Tebet District Head Putut Puji Linangkung noted that his office had already conducted outreach to residents in the area regarding planned land acquisition along the Ciliwung riverbank.

According to him, this step is part of the government’s effort to address flood potential and landslide risk in the area. “We have been conducting outreach since 2023, continuing in 2024 and 2025,” said Putut.

Land acquisition will be carried out in phases after the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government completes the relocation of residents in the Rawajati area, Pancoran District.

“The recorded number of residents affected by the planned Ciliwung river normalisation in RW 10, Kebon Baru Village totals 396 plots. Meanwhile, for RW 11 and RW 14, further data collection is still pending,” he said.
