Soroptimists raise funds

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta branch of Soroptimist International, a women's worldwide service organization, will hold a fund- raising activity at Jl. Simpruk Garden Blok X No. 2, Simpruk, South Jakarta on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the organization's members and guests will be required to witness the disclosure of what time a clock, which was wound-up, set at the correct time on March, 18, and sealed in a Crown Worldwide box, as well as kept safe in a warehouse, stopped.

Tickets for guessing what time the clock stopped have been sold to friends, relatives and neighbors of the organization's members, Lenny Samudra, president of Soroptimist International of Jakarta, said.

"There are over twenty wonderful prizes for those who guessed the nearest to the actual time the clock stopped," she said.

The funds raised in the activity will be used to finance a number of social activities, including sponsoring two high-school girls and a kindergarten located in a lower income area, she said. (hhr)
