Son of Mamuju Official Named Suspect After Crashing Government Fortuner into Residents
A high school student identified by the initials FA (16) has been named a suspect after the government-issued Toyota Fortuner he was driving struck two residents in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. Despite his suspect status, the son of Paharuddin, Head of the Asset Division at Mamuju’s Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), will not be detained as he is a minor.
“The student FA has been named a suspect,” said Mamuju Police public relations officer Inspector Herman Basir on Tuesday (24/2/2026).
Herman said the handling of the case would prioritise diversion, in accordance with the Juvenile Criminal Justice System Act (UU SPPA).
“He is a minor, so diversion will be applied in handling the case,” he explained.
Herman added that the suspect’s parents had met with both victims. The suspect’s father had replaced the damaged motorcycle and covered the cost of repairs to a house damaged in the accident.
However, mediation has yet to be reached with one victim who sustained serious injuries, as the victim’s compensation demands have not been met by FA’s father.
“Even though no agreement has been reached with this one victim, the division head said he would still provide Rp 30 million for medical expenses. His capacity is only Rp 30 million, but the victim requested Rp 100 million at the time,” Herman disclosed.
