Solving problem of garbage
Solving problem of garbage
From Koran Tempo
Garbage seems to be a perennial problem in major cities across the country. One of the difficulties in solving this problem is the lack of space for a final dumping site. Unless this problem is properly solved, it may cause society many other serious problems in the future.
In fact, there is an alternative solution: The use of an incinerator. When an incinerator is used, garbage can be handled in small units, for example, the garbage from a housing estate or even a neighborhood.
As a leading ship-making and electronic company in Japan has made public in one of its releases, an incinerator has two advantages in that it is environmentally friendly -- because the resulting fumes can be neutralized with a modern exhaust gas treatment method -- and that it can be used for quite a long time and is cost-efficient.
Experiments with an incinerator made by ship-making company PT PAL in Surabaya conducted since 2002 show that the incinerator is easy to operate. Also, garbage can be thoroughly burned. But before the fumes from burning the garbage are released to the air, they are first treated using a modern method.
The security of this process has been certified through a test validated by the health ministry of the Republic of Indonesia. In fact, an incinerator has already been used in some places in Indonesia. You can also try to use it and then test the results with us.
