Solok Flash Flood: One Dead, Two Missing, and Four Injured
The joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team discovered one victim of the flash flood in Solok, West Sumatra, deceased on Tuesday (22/09/2026) at approximately 1:30 PM WIB. The victim was found in the Koto Gaek riverbed, which borders the Jawi-jawi area in Solok Regency.
“The victim was found by the joint SAR team and local residents in the riverbed, deceased,” stated the Head of SAR Padang, Abdul Malik, in Padang.
However, Abdul Malik noted that the victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. “After the body was found, it was immediately evacuated from the location; however, the identity cannot be certain yet,” he said.
He added that the victim’s identity will be determined once the examination by the Indonesian National Police’s Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team is complete. Abdul Malik stated that following the discovery of the first victim, search efforts will continue around the location and other areas affected by the disaster that occurred on Monday night (21/09).
According to initial information obtained by the Padang SAR Office, two people were reported missing following the flood. The search operation involves approximately 600 personnel from various agencies, supported by local residents.
The Padang Search and Rescue Office has deployed resources to find two Solok residents who went missing after the flash flood struck on Monday night (21/09/2026). “As a result of this incident, two residents are reported missing, and the search is currently ongoing,” said Abdul Malik.
He identified the two missing individuals as two males, namely Algusral (59) and Dafi (20). The Padang SAR Office has deployed personnel to Solok since Monday night, supplemented by the Tanah Datar Regency SAR Alert Unit, which arrived at the location in the early hours of Tuesday.
Based on preliminary data obtained by SAR Padang, the flash flood that hit Solok on Monday night has caused several casualties and significant impact. Four people sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in hospital, while 32 people were previously evacuated. The flash flood also severed access between Padang City and Solok Regency, as flood debris consisting of landslides, sand, stones, and mud covered the road.
