Soldier's killers face up to 8 years

DENPASAR, Bali: Prosecutors demanded that the Denpasar
District Court sentence three men to seven and eight years'
imprisonment over the death of soldier I Gusti Ketut Suardika
from the local 163 Wirasatya Military Command.

Suspects Putu Agus Suryawan Arya, 24, I Wayan Wirawan, 32, and
Wahyu Effendi, 26, were guilty of stabbing the soldier to death,
using swords, on Nov. 30 last year.

Prosecutor I Ketut Swadiarta told the trial, presided over by
I Gde Damendra, that Arya should be jailed for eight years and
his two accomplices for seven years.

Police said the three defendants were drunk at the time of the
incident, which occurred at Denpasar Moon disco. --Antara
