Soeharto to unveil new budget

JAKARTA (JP): President Soeharto is scheduled to present the government's spending plans for the fiscal year beginning April 1 to the House of Representatives (DPR) on Jan. 5.

FX. Subandrio, a spokesman for the DPR secretariat, said yesterday that Soeharto's annual budget speech at a plenary hearing will kick off the new working session of the House, reported the Antara news agency.

The House normally has two months to deliberate on the budget bill before giving its endorsement. (emb)
