Social Minister: Many Notes from KPK on People's School Programme
Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, alias Gus Ipul, has admitted receiving numerous inputs and corrections from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the procurement of goods and services for the People’s School programme.
Ipul conveyed this after consulting with KPK leaders on the programme at the KPK Building in South Jakarta on Friday (8/5).
“On this occasion, I would like to state that from the consultation earlier, we received many inputs, many notes, many things that must serve as corrections and improvements for us so that prevention can be carried out earnestly, closing all loopholes, and ultimately ensuring a transparent and fair process,” said Ipul.
Ipul stated that the inputs from KPK are very important because the Social Affairs Ministry is preparing for this year’s procurement of goods and services.
He emphasised the desire for his ministry’s programmes, including the People’s School, to be free from corrupt practices.
“We are earnestly awaiting the evaluation results that will be conducted by KPK, which will take some time ahead, and the evaluation results and monitoring carried out by KPK will serve as guidelines for us to improve our performance in the future,” he said.
On the same occasion, KPK Deputy Chairman Ibnu Basuki Widodo stated that Gus Ipul’s visit was for the prevention of corruption offences, so it is hoped that no deviations or irregularities occur in the Social Affairs Ministry’s programmes.
“We support these good programmes, but in their implementation, it is hoped that there are no deviations or irregularities, so earlier we conveyed risk areas where corruption or deviations could occur, so they can be detected as early as possible to prevent them from happening,” said Ibnu.
Previously, there was a viral social media issue regarding allegations of mark-up in the price of students’ shoes for the People’s School.
Gus Ipul has already denied the issue, calling it false information or a hoax containing slander.
“That is slander, a hoax,” said Gus Ipul.
