Social Minister: KPK Provides Many Notes and Corrections on People's School Shoe Procurement
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul, stated that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) provided numerous notes and inputs regarding the procurement of shoes for students at People’s Schools.
“I want to convey that from the consultation earlier, we received many inputs, many notes, and many things that must serve as corrections and improvements for us so that prevention can be carried out earnestly, closing all loopholes, and ultimately ensuring a transparent and fair process,” Saifullah said after meeting with KPK leaders at the Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026).
Additionally, he said, the Ministry of Social Affairs does not yet have sufficient human resources to carry out goods and services procurement where the budget will be increasingly large.
Therefore, he said, the Ministry of Social Affairs requested inputs from the KPK on whether it is possible for them to conduct goods and services procurement through other agencies and parties in accordance with statutory regulations.
“Through procurement agents that are permitted by law. This is a new idea for us to seek further advice from the KPK,” he stated.
“The results of monitoring conducted by the KPK will serve as guidelines for us to improve our performance in the future,” he added.
On the same occasion, KPK Deputy Chairman Ibnu Masuki Widodo hoped that no deviations would occur in the programmes implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Ibnu said the KPK is open to escorting the programme as an effort in prevention.
“We remain open. Clearly, this programme and his visit are in the context of preventing criminal acts of corruption, so it is hoped that in the existing programmes, there will be no misappropriation, deviations, and so on,” Ibnu said.
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf visited the KPK at the Red and White Building at 09.32 WIB accompanied by Deputy Social Minister Agus Jabo Priyono, the Secretary General, and a team of directors from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
He said that they would convey the goods and services procurement to the KPK to avoid corrupt practices.
“Coincidentally, we are also starting the implementation of procurement in 2026; we want the President’s strategic programme, especially the People’s School, not to be tainted by corrupt practices,” he stated.
