Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) inspected potential sites for the People’s School at the Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic (PPI) and the Aviation Education and Training Centre (BP3) in Curug, Tangerang Regency, Banten, today. This location marks the final point in a series of inspections of three potential sites for the pilot People’s School conducted by Gus Ipul. Previously, Gus Ipul visited the Maritime College of Sciences (STIP) in Marunda and the College of Public Administration at the National Institute of Public Administration (STIA LAN) in Pejompongan. Gus Ipul was accompanied by Deputy Social Minister Agus Jabo Priyono, Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Robben Rico, Head of the General Bureau Salahudin Yahya, as well as a team of special staff and ministerial experts. Also present were Head of the Human Resources Development Agency for Transportation Suharto, Acting Secretary of BPSDMP Ali Fikri, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works Wida Nurfaida, Director General of Strategic Infrastructure at the Ministry of Public Works Essy Asiani, Director of BP3 Curug Sukahir, and Director of PPI Curug Megi Hudi Helmiadi. “Alhamdulillah, from the three points we saw today, they are all ready to be used in April 2026,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Friday (27/3/2026). According to Gus Ipul, the Curug location has added value because it is not only ready for the pilot People’s School but also offers great potential for permanent school development. “The pilot People’s School will naturally use temporary buildings. Meanwhile, there are already more than 100 permanent People’s School buildings being constructed by the Ministry of Public Works in various regencies and cities across Indonesia,” he stated. Gus Ipul explained that Curug has extensive land support, established educational facilities, and relatively ready supporting amenities. Therefore, this area is considered potential for gradual development. From the inspection results, BP3 Curug has land and buildings spanning 11.735 hectares. Its basic facilities are deemed suitable for use, supported by electricity networks, water sources, asphalted road access, classrooms, dormitories, dining halls, health facilities, and sports amenities. Meanwhile, in the PPI Curug area, there is vacant land of 6.5 hectares that can be considered for permanent People’s School construction. Gus Ipul expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Transportation for supporting the expansion of the pilot People’s School, following previous utilisations of buildings from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Manpower, and local governments. “This time, we are grateful that these are buildings from the Ministry of Transportation,” he said. With the addition of new points in and around Jakarta, Gus Ipul hopes that the expansion of pilot People’s School capacity can be realised soon this year in line with President Prabowo’s directives. “There will be approximately 500 to 600 People’s School students that can be accommodated at several points, which, insha’Allah, if added by July 2026, will reach more than 1,000 students that can be accommodated at the pilot People’s School points we propose in various areas around Jakarta,” he explained. Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works Wida Nurfaida stated that the condition of the buildings in Curug is highly feasible for use. “Structurally, it is very suitable. We just need minor repairs for aesthetics, mechanical, and electrical aspects; the rest, we assure, can be completed by April,” said Wida. Wida added that, besides for pilot needs, they have also begun identifying points that can be prepared for future development. Meanwhile, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency for Transportation Suharto expressed the Ministry of Transportation’s readiness to contribute more broadly to the People’s School programme. He noted that BPSDMP Transportation has 22 civil service schools with similar facility characteristics. “We have 22 schools, and of course, we are ready to contribute to the success of the People’s School in accordance with the President’s directives,” Suharto concluded.
