Social Minister Gus Ipul Visits KPK to Consult on People's School Procurement
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, along with officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs, visited the Red and White Building of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in South Jakarta on Friday, 8 May 2026.
Gus Ipul stated that his visit was to consult and seek advice regarding the development of goods and services procurement at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
“It is a visit to strengthen ties, consult, seek advice, and also report on the developments in goods and services procurement at the Ministry of Social Affairs,” said Gus Ipul to reporters at the KPK’s Red and White Building.
He explained that he would report in detail on goods and services procurement within the Ministry of Social Affairs, including plans for goods and services procurement related to the People’s School programme.
Gus Ipul stressed that they do not want the People’s School programme to be tainted by corrupt practices.
“We are seeking advice, input, criticism, and suggestions because we are just starting the implementation of procurement in 2026. We want the President’s strategic programme, especially the People’s School, not to be tainted by corrupt practices,” he explained.
Previously, it was reported that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated it is open to partnering with the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) to prevent corrupt practices in the People’s School programme.
“In the framework of corruption prevention, the KPK is certainly open to becoming an early mitigation partner,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Thursday, 7 May 2026.
Budi explained that the KPK, in its prevention duties and functions, is also examining the potential for corruption in the programme.
“Yes, we will map out how the policy is, how it is implemented in the field, how the business processes are, including in the scope of goods and services procurement,” he said.
The KPK, he added, will look at the goods and services procurement planning process, such as the preparation of the estimated own price (HPS) up to the tender process.
“This we are mitigating from the start. Do not let there still be room and gaps for parties to commit or for corruption offences to occur,” Budi revealed.
