Social Minister Gus Ipul Visits KPK, Seeks Advice on People's School Procurement
“We are seeking advice, input, criticism, and suggestions because we are about to start procurement implementation in 2026. We want President Prabowo’s strategic programme, particularly the People’s School, to be free from corrupt practices,” said Gus Ipul at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (8/5/2026). Gus Ipul stated that all processes at the Ministry of Social Affairs are open and have been communicated to the public. This includes procurement processes at the ministry, which have been reported to oversight institutions such as BPK or BPKP for monitoring. “To supervise and guide the implementation of goods procurement within the Ministry of Social Affairs. We will then follow up on whatever advice is given,” he added. Gus Ipul said he came accompanied by his team, including Deputy Minister Agus Jabo and all Directors General. Agus Jabo himself arrived earlier around 09:13 WIB. “I came with the Deputy Minister, the Secretary General, all Directors General, as well as bureau heads and directors responsible for goods and services implementation,” he stated. Previously, Gus Ipul had announced he would meet KPK leaders that day. The meeting was to report on the goods and services procurement processes within the Ministry of Social Affairs. This step is a form of the ministry’s transparency towards budget oversight and to ensure that goods and services procurement processes at the ministry, including for the People’s School programme, run in accordance with regulations. “We, along with the Deputy Minister and Secretary General, will pay a courtesy visit to the KPK to seek advice and input, as well as to provide information on the procurement processes within the Ministry of Social Affairs,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Thursday (7/5). In response to the viral social media issue regarding People’s School shoe procurement, Gus Ipul also formed a special team to investigate and trace for more complete information. “I have appointed the Deputy Minister and Inspector General to conduct tracing, in-depth investigation, and report it next week. So that we can get a clearer and more complete picture of the issues that have been circulating on social media,” he revealed. Gus Ipul explained that his side is open and welcomes all criticism and suggestions from the public. All criticism and suggestions will be considered, and if follow-up is needed, it will be acted upon, one of which relates to the procurement process for the People’s School.
