Social Minister Gus Ipul Inspects Prospective Site for New People's School at STIP Jakarta
Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) inspected the prospective location for a Sekolah Rakyat at the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayanan (STIP) in Marunda, North Jakarta. This site is planned as an additional pioneering Sekolah Rakyat school.
“Indeed, this is termed a pioneering school; we have already started at several points, in the Jakarta area there are already ones in Pondok Indah, Bambu Apus, Pasar Rebo, there’s also one in Bekasi and in Bogor. Well, the President wants to add pioneering schools around Jakarta,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Friday (27/3/2026).
The inspection was also attended by Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) Robben Rico, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works Wida Nurfaida, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency for Transportation Suharto, STIP Chairman Tri Cahyadi, and other related officials.
Gus Ipul arrived at the site at 06:52 WIB. His arrival was welcomed by STIP cadets forming an honour guard. Afterwards, Gus Ipul proceeded to the meeting room to hear a presentation from the STIP Chairman, followed by an inspection of the facilities including classrooms, dormitories, and dining areas.
Overall, STIP has a total land area of 38 hectares. There are 56 existing buildings, with plans to use four buildings and two sports facilities for the pioneering Sekolah Rakyat.
The school is targeted to accommodate a maximum of 150 students, with 15 guardians, two dormitory supervisors, and 20 teachers and assistants.
“This is a detailed overview; the capacity per class is approximately 24 to 27 students,” said STIP Chairman Tri Cahyadi while presenting the plans for the classrooms to be used for the pioneering Sekolah Rakyat.
Furthermore, Tri explained that the classrooms to be used for Sekolah Rakyat consist of six rooms and two dormitories. The boys’ dormitory is a two-storey building, with each floor having a capacity of 60 students, and the girls’ dormitory consists of five rooms, each with a capacity of 10 students.
Gus Ipul expressed his appreciation for the readiness of the facilities at STIP, stating that they are sufficient to be used as a pioneering Sekolah Rakyat.
“I see that the facilities are good,” Gus Ipul concluded.
