Social Affairs Ministry Disqualifies 75 Social Aid Recipients Suspected of Online Gambling Misuse in Second Quarter of 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Social Affairs Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, revealed that his ministry has disqualified 75 Beneficiary Families (KPM) suspected of misusing social assistance for online gambling or “judol” in the second quarter of 2026.
Gus Ipul stated that this number is a decrease from the first quarter of 2026, where 11,000 KPM were recorded as terminated as social aid recipients.
“For 2026, there are more than 11,000 KPM that we disqualified in the first quarter, and for the second quarter, there are 75 KPM that we disqualified,” said Gus Ipul in his statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
“Thus, we can provide social assistance to those who need it more and utilise it properly,” he added.
Furthermore, Gus Ipul emphasised that the termination of social aid recipients suspected of judol is now permanent, with no further opportunities given as in the previous year.
“Last year, we still gave a second chance. Not all, only certain ones after ground checks confirmed they really needed it. But of course, we provided accompaniment so they wouldn’t repeat it,” he stressed.
“Indeed, there are some findings like that, misused by others. If intentional, then we draw a red line,” he revealed.
The Social Affairs Ministry will continue to monitor the distribution of social aid in the field while providing accompaniment through social companions in the regions.
