Snakes, goats occupy office

SORONG, Irian Jaya: The Islamic religious affairs office has
been so neglected that there is hardly anyone courageous enough
to enter the premises because it is invested with snakes and
goats.

The deplorable condition of the office, once used for Islamic
marriages and divorces, shocked the visiting Sorong regent this
week.

"The facility that cost the tax payers hundreds of millions
rupiah to build is unoccupied. Its window panes are shattered and
furniture is missing," Antara reported yesterday.

Also in deplorable condition is the food crop office adjacent
to it. Grass and bushes are about one meter tall around both of
the offices. (pan)
