Smart Home Trends 2026: From Young People’s Lifestyles to Family Needs
Jakarta — The use of smart home devices in Indonesian society is still considered to be in an introductory phase. Nevertheless, its growth potential is projected to be larger as understanding of the technology’s ease and affordability increases.
Teresa Wibowo, Director of PT Aspirasi Hidup Indonesia Tbk, said many people still believe smart home devices are expensive and complicated to use. According to her, that perception is beginning to change.
“The smart home trend at present, in my view, is still in its early stages, because many people think the technology is expensive and fiddly. Now people are starting to realise that it is easy, more affordable, and greatly simplifies life,” Teresa said at a press conference for AZKO in South Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March 2026).
She believes that going forward, smart home adoption will become more widespread, not only among young people or those who understand technology, but it could also be utilised by older people as the system becomes progressively simpler and more practical. As Ramadan reaches its mid-point, the AZKO retail brand, owned by PT Aspirasi Hidup Indonesia Tbk, is also strengthening the SYNC smart home ecosystem. The SYNC app now features a more user-friendly interface and an increasingly inspiring user experience. One of the updates introduced is the Lighting Scene feature, which allows users to regulate lighting ambience according to household activities.
During sahur and iftar, the feature can select bright lighting to support togetherness. When resting time arrives, the ambience can be turned warmer and dimmer with a single app, creating a comfortable transition without repeated manual adjustments.
“SYNC is designed to meet the needs of today’s families who demand speed, ease and balance, so they can live each moment to the fullest, especially during Ramadan,” said Teresa.
