Small traders
Small traders
From Forum Keadilan
I have a small stall on Jl. Jamin Ginting in Medan where I sell breakfast rolls, cigarettes and other merchandise.
For some years now the area has been a parking zone. The parking attendant charges Rp 300 for each motor vehicle stopping in front of my stall, even though the driver may just make a small purchase, leaving his motor run, and leave after two minutes.
The surcharge of Rp 300 on a small purchase seems to burden my customers and they have ceased to come. My customers now consist of only pedestrians or cyclists.
The motorists have now switched to plazas and supermarkets where they pay Rp 500 for parking and make purchases for the entire week.
This letter is to express my complaint as one among many small traders. We do not know what to do in this situation and become even more confused when taxes are imposed on us. Would it be possible to make the tax returns and permits simpler?
