A foreign national (WNA) named Rok Horzen (40) was found dead in a homestay in Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung, Bali. The body of the Slovenian tourist was already bloated and emitting a foul odour.

The head of Nusa Penida Police District, First Inspector Ketut Kesuma Jaya, disclosed that Horzen’s body was first discovered by the homestay owner named Murniati on Monday evening (16 March). At that time, Murniati was heading to the second floor of the homestay where Horzen was staying.

As she passed in front of Horzen’s room, the homestay owner noticed many flies flying into the room. “Upon approaching, a bad smell was detected coming from inside the Slovenian national’s room,” said Kesuma Jaya on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

Murniati then called her husband to check the room occupied by the Slovenian guest. After the room door was opened, Murniati and her husband saw the foreign man lying on the floor with his body bloated.

Shortly thereafter, personnel from Nusa Penida Police District arrived at the location and conducted a crime scene examination. Based on initial examination results, Horzen is estimated to have died approximately five days before being discovered.

“This is further reinforced by witness statements claiming they had not seen the victim leave the house for a long time. He was last seen on Sunday (8 March),” explained Kesuma Jaya.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of death of the foreign tourist. “The body has been placed at Gema Santhi Hospital, Nusa Penida,” he concluded.
