Slippery Vegetable in MBG Meal Causes Nausea and Vomiting Among Primary School Students in Nganjuk
Three pupils at SDN Mojokendil in Ngronggot subdistrict, Nganjuk, were reported to have experienced nausea and vomiting after eating the free nutritious meal (MBG). According to detikJatim, the incident took place on Tuesday morning (7/4/2026). The school operator at SDN Mojokendil, Hendri Dwi Prastya, stated that the MBG menu was produced by the SPPG Cengkok in Ngronggot subdistrict. The symptoms experienced by the pupils are suspected to be due to the MBG vegetable being slimy and no longer fresh. “Earlier, one child was taken to the Mojokendil health centre because they experienced nausea, vomiting, and weakness,” said Hendri, quoted from detikJatim. Hendri explained that the incident began when the MBG package from the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Cengkok village, Ngronggot subdistrict, was distributed to the classrooms. Upon inspection by school staff, the vegetable was found to be in a condition unfit for consumption. “Distribution was immediately stopped. Some pupils, particularly in year 5, had already eaten the dish,” Hendri said. As a result, the pupils’ health was affected. In addition to the one pupil taken to the health centre, one or two other pupils also vomited at school. After receiving medical treatment, the pupils’ conditions improved, and they were sent home. Hendri hopes that the meal provider will be more meticulous in maintaining cleanliness standards and food quality. He also hopes that similar incidents will not recur for the comfort and safety of the pupils. “We hope that SPPG pays more attention to food quality,” he said.
