Skeletal Remains of Woman Found in Depok Home, Covered with Coffee Powder
The skeletal remains of a 56-year-old woman identified as DH were discovered in a house in Meruyung, Limo, Depok, on Saturday, 7 March.
The discovery began when witnesses R and L arrived at the residence on Friday, 6 March, at approximately 23:00 WIB to clean the victim’s home. This visit was their second since February 2026, when they had last been informed by a relative with the initial T that the victim was staying at a school friend’s house in Sukabumi, West Java.
“As a result, the victim’s house was empty. Based on this information, witness L planned to visit the victim’s home to clean it,” stated Cinere Police Sub-district Commander Kompol Chaerul Saleh in his statement on Monday, 9 March.
In February, witnesses L and R, who are a romantic couple, had visited the house together with L’s mother. Upon arrival, the gate was locked from the outside with a padlock.
“Since witness L did not have a key, witness R helped forcibly break open the padlock. After the padlock was opened, witnesses L and R entered the house, and the house door was found to be unlocked,” said Chaerul.
When the three entered, the house was in a state of disarray. Witness L noticed piles of clothing on the floor but did not become suspicious as there was no strange odour. Because the interior was already messy, the witnesses only cleaned the yard. After finishing, they locked the gate with a new padlock before leaving.
On Friday, they returned to continue their cleaning plans. However, that night they did not immediately begin cleaning and fell asleep in the living room.
Then, on Saturday at approximately 07:00 WIB, witnesses L and R began cleaning and divided the tasks. L was responsible for cleaning the kitchen area, whilst R cleaned the living area and bedrooms.
Whilst cleaning the bedroom, R planned to place piles of clothing into plastic bags. When R lifted a carpet covering the clothing pile, the witness discovered human leg bones.
“Suddenly, witness R saw a pair of human legs in a condition where only bones were visible, and the skin appeared to be desiccated,” said Chaerul.
“After seeing this, witness R informed L, who then reported to the neighbourhood chief, and the neighbourhood chief subsequently informed Cinere Police Sub-district,” he added.
Chaerul revealed that the victim had been living in the house with her common-law husband. However, the whereabouts of the victim’s common-law husband are currently unknown.
Chaerul also stated that several of the victim’s possessions have gone missing, including a motorcycle with its ignition key and registration document, as well as a mobile phone.
Chaerul further disclosed that based on witness statements, the victim was known to have had a history of quarrels with her common-law husband.
“According to the statement of the neighbourhood chief with the initial SS, there was a history of domestic disputes between the victim and her common-law husband,” he said.
Furthermore, Chaerul stated that from preliminary investigation, coffee powder was found on the victim’s remains. He said the investigation is continuing to uncover more details of the case.
“Identification checks revealed coffee powder scattered on the victim’s remains,” he said.
