Six villages in the Sanggar and Tambora subdistricts of Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have been hit by flooding, with hundreds of homes submerged and main roads transformed into flowing rivers.

Nurul Huda, Head of Logistics and Emergency at the Bima Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), disclosed that the area had been battered by heavy rainfall from Saturday (21 February) evening through to Sunday morning. Six villages across the Tambora and Sanggar subdistricts were inundated.

“It rained for two consecutive days, and six villages in the Tambora and Sanggar subdistricts were flooded,” he said.

Huda detailed that 140 homes in Tambora subdistrict were submerged. Beyond residential properties, the flooding also inundated a number of public facilities, including SDN 1 and SDN 2 Labuan Kananga primary schools, a mosque, the village office, and Labuan Kananga Market.

“The provincial main road in Labuan Kananga Village was also flooded with muddy water, disrupting traffic flow,” Huda added.

In Kawinda Na’e Village, also in Tambora subdistrict, 20 homes were recorded as flooded. The main road in the village was effectively turned into a river after the road embankment was eroded by floodwaters.
