Six Toll Roads to Open Free During 2026 Eid Holiday Period
Several new toll road sections will reopen functionally during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus and return period, with free access available to motorists. The Government Communications Agency (Bakom) announced via its official Instagram account that six toll road sections with a total length of 198 kilometres will open functionally and toll-free during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period.
“These toll sections will open temporarily and can be utilised without charge during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus and return period,” Bakom stated on its official Instagram account @bakom.ri on Saturday (28 February 2026).
The policy aims to help reduce traffic congestion and support smooth travel for holiday travellers returning to their home villages.
The six toll road sections opening free during the 2026 Eid holiday period are:
Trans Sumatra routes:
Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Section 1, Padang Tiji-Seulimeum segment, 23.9 kilometres
Palembang-Betung Toll Section 1, Kramasan-Musi Landas segment, and Section 2, Musi Landas-Pangkalan Balai segment, 53.6 kilometres combined
Trans Java routes:
Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) 2 South Toll Sections 3 to 6, 52 kilometres (applicable only during the 2026 Eid return period)
Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Section 6, Ambarawa-Bawen segment, 4.85 kilometres
Yogyakarta-Solo (Joglo) Toll, Prambanan-Purwomartani segment, 11.48 kilometres
Probolinggo-Banyuwangi (Probowangi) Toll Phase 1, Gending-Besuki segment, 49.68 kilometres
The Ministry of Transport previously predicted that the first peak exodus period would occur on 13 March 2026 and the second peak on 18 March 2026. The first peak return period is expected on 23 March 2026, with the second peak return on 28 March 2026.
According to the Ministry of Transport’s 2026 Eid Holiday Transport Survey, approximately 143.9 million people are expected to travel during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus and return period.
