The Metro Jaya Regional Police Robbery Task Force has uncovered six robbery cases occurring within the Jakarta area. Within just three days of its formation, the task force has successfully arrested eight suspects.

“Tonight, our Robbery Task Force has, Alhamdulillah, secured eight suspects involved in acts of theft with violence, as we have seen go viral within the Metro Jaya Police jurisdiction recently,” stated the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, on Monday (1_May_2026).

The perpetrators operated in several locations, including Bundaran HI, Patung Kuda, Kebon Jeruk, Cideng, and Gandaria. Iman noted that videos of these incidents had been circulating widely on social media.

“For several crime scenes that recently went viral, we have arrested some of the perpetrators tonight,” he said. Other suspects remain under pursuit by investigators. Iman stated that the suspects will face charges under Articles 466, 471, 477, and 479 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

“We are promptly following up on all information available on social media, and we are striving to the utmost to ensure a sense of security for the people of Jakarta,” he added.

Previously, the Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Komjen Asep Edi Suheri, confirmed that the Robbery Task Force has resolved six robbery cases in DKI Jakarta, noting that these incidents have been a primary focus for the police.

“The formation of the Robbery Task Force is a direct response to the attention required by Metro Jaya Police regarding these cases. I can confirm that we have already resolved six cases,” Komjen Asep told journalists at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Monday.

Komjen Asep has ordered police units to take firm action against robbery perpetrators, instructing officers not to hesitate in acting in accordance with Police Regulation (Perkap) No. 1 of 2009 regarding the Use of Force in Policing.

“I have instructed all ranks within the Metro Jaya Police to take decisive action against criminals who endanger the lives of police officers. Do not hesitate to take firm and measured action in accordance with the regulations of Perkap Number 1 of 2009,” he stated.

Komjen Asep also urged the public to report any information regarding robberies by calling the National Police call centre at 110.
