Six Million Tourists Predicted to Visit Central Java During Eid Holiday
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java provincial government predicts that the number of tourists during the 2026 Eid holiday will reach around six million people visiting various tourist and entertainment destinations in the region.
Head of the Central Java Provincial Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy Office, Hanung Triyono, in Semarang on Wednesday, stated that this figure poses a challenge as well as an opportunity for the local tourism sector.
“Around six million people will go on holiday. This is a large number, so comfort and security must be thoroughly ensured,” he said.
According to him, the number of tourists is inseparable from the high flow of people returning home this year, estimated at around 17.3 million returning to their hometowns in Central Java.
Anticipatory measures, he said, include tightening security, enhancing services, and ensuring the readiness of facilities at all tourist sites.
He stated that his office has undertaken various preparations, from coordinating with district/city governments, destination managers, to related agencies.
The main focus is on facility readiness, security systems, and services for tourists.
Several destinations are predicted to be the main attractions during the Eid holiday, such as Tawangmangu in Karanganyar, Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Surakarta, and Gajah Mungkur Reservoir in Wonogiri for the Solo Raya area.
The Dieng area in Wonosobo is also expected to be crowded, especially with the hot air balloon attractions that are a unique draw during Eid. Religious destinations in Demak and Kudus are predicted to be thronged with pilgrims.
Furthermore, southern Central Java coastal tourist areas, such as in Kebumen, Purworejo, and Wonogiri, are receiving special attention due to potential rainy weather and strong winds.
“We have coordinated with the Eid command post and related agencies, particularly for security in coastal areas,” he said.
Not only flagship destinations, rural tourism villages are also predicted to be a favourite choice for family holidays. Managers are urged to ensure cleanliness, security, and readiness of supporting facilities.
On the other hand, the management of Guci Forest tourist destination in Tegal Regency has expressed readiness to face the surge in visitors, as stated by Guci Forest Marketing Manager, Umi Baini.
A variety of rides have been prepared, from hotels, villas, glamping, camping areas, hot spring baths, to off-road jeep tours.
Improvements have also been made to the parking area, bathing pools, and installation of warning signs in hazardous areas.
During the Eid holiday, Umi estimates that Guci Forest will be visited by around 4,000 tourists per day for nearly a week.
