Joint military and police forces together with municipal police raided several small shops suspected of selling illegal liquor (miras) in Cibinong, Bogor, West Java. A total of 600 bottles of illegal liquor of various types and brands were secured from three locations.

“The total we secured from the raid last night was 600 bottles of illegal liquor of various types and brands,” said Cibinong Police Chief Kompol Jony Handoko when asked for confirmation on Sunday (15 March 2026).

Jony stated that the hundreds of bottles of illegal liquor were secured from three small shops located around the Cibinong Bus Terminal. Sellers of illegal liquor attempted to deceive officers and claimed they only sold drinks.

“The three locations we raided were all around the Cibinong terminal. These were small shops selling illegal liquor; they were disguised as selling only light beverages and displayed them on shelves. After we checked, we found that inside the shops they kept large quantities of hard liquor,” said Jony.

“All evidence has been handed over to the Narcotics Unit of Bogor Police for further action,” he added.

Jony noted that the raid was conducted as a preventive measure against the circulation of illegal liquor that triggers public order disturbances during Ramadan. The raid was conducted involving 120 personnel from the combined forces of the police sector, military sub-district command, and Cibinong District administration.

“The operation began with a briefing involving 120 personnel from the military sub-district command and Cibinong District administration along with their ranks, including village heads. The purpose of this activity is a follow-up to orders from leadership to maintain public order during Ramadan and ahead of religious holidays, including Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr,” said Jony.

“It also includes preventing street fights and illegal racing. Because typically the perpetrators of street fights and illegal racing usually carry out their actions after consuming illegal liquor,” he added.
