The United States and its Arab allies issued a joint condemnation of Iran on Sunday as Tehran launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and US targets in response to a Saturday attack. In addition to attacks on Tel Aviv, Iran struck Gulf nations hosting US military forces, including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

“These unjustified attacks target areas of sovereignty, endanger civilians, and damage civilian infrastructure,” the joint statement read, according to Al-Arabiya. “The actions of the Islamic Republic represent a dangerous escalation that violates the sovereignty of several nations and threatens regional stability.”

“Targeting civilians and nations uninvolved in hostilities is reckless and destabilising behaviour,” the statement continued, as reported by AFP.

The nations emphasised their unity in defending their citizens, sovereignty, and territories. The US and Arab allies reaffirmed their right to self-defence in response to the attacks. The statement highlighted a commitment to regional security and praised the effectiveness of air defence and missile cooperation that had prevented greater loss of life and damage.

Meanwhile, three close US allies—Britain, France, and Germany—indicated their readiness to join efforts to defend their interests in the Middle East and counter Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks following the assassination of Khamenei. The three European powers stated they were prepared to cooperate with the US.

“We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through the activation of necessary and proportional defensive actions to destroy Iran’s missile and drone launch capabilities at their source,” their statement said. “We have agreed to cooperate with the US and regional allies on this matter.”
