The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law has introduced SIVIKI (Virtual Intellectual Property Information System) as an official online consultation service for intellectual property (IP) applicants and the public. This service aims to provide accurate and trustworthy information to support the IP protection process from the initial stage.

SIVIKI serves as a virtual consultation platform based on video conferencing, offering direct explanations regarding procedures, requirements, and stages of IP applications. Through this service, DJKI seeks to enhance applicants’ understanding, ensuring that every IP submission process complies with applicable laws and regulations.

The Director General of Intellectual Property, Hermansyah Siregar, stated that SIVIKI is part of DJKI’s commitment to delivering easily accessible public services. Applicants can interact directly with officers via SIVIKI to obtain precise services and information, supporting the smooth running of the application process.

“Through SIVIKI, DJKI provides an official consultation service that is easily accessible to the public. This service is expected to help applicants understand intellectual property procedures correctly, so that the application process runs in accordance with regulations and IP protection can be provided optimally,” said Hermansyah at the DJKI office some time ago.

SIVIKI is designed for more comprehensive consultation needs. Providing direct interaction through video, this platform is equipped with a screen-sharing feature that facilitates the visual explanation of documents, systems, or specific materials. Additionally, there is a text chat feature during sessions, including facilities for uploading documents as supporting consultation materials.

“The SIVIKI service covers consultations on various intellectual property regimes, such as trademarks, patents, industrial designs, copyrights, geographical indications, and trade secrets. These consultations are conducted online with competent DJKI officers according to their field,” explained Hermansyah.

In addition to SIVIKI, DJKI also provides Webchat as a text-based conversation consultation channel. Through Webchat, users can communicate in real time with information service officers for brief consultations, information clarifications, or submitting questions related to IP services.

Webchat is equipped with a document attachment sending feature that users can utilise to submit supporting documents quickly and practically. This channel is considered effective for simple consultation needs that do not require in-depth discussions.

DJKI emphasises that Webchat and SIVIKI are strategic efforts to strengthen the national IP protection system. In addition to ensuring information accuracy, these services are also crucial for safeguarding applicants’ data security and ensuring that the service process complies with legal provisions.

Information regarding service schedules can be accessed from Monday to Thursday between 08:00 and 15:00, and Fridays between 08:00 and 15:30. The SIVIKI and Webchat services are available on the official DJKI website at dgip.go.id.

To complement the service ecosystem, DJKI also provides a Call Centre at 152, email at [email protected], and lapor.go.id. DJKI continues to conduct outreach to increase public familiarity and utilisation of these official consultation services.

Through these various digital service channels, DJKI hopes to promote increased awareness of intellectual property protection. Thus, IP can be managed properly as a legal asset with economic value.
