Situbondo (ANTARA) - The Situbondo Regency Government in East Java has opened a complaints post for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI), particularly those employed in Middle Eastern countries currently affected by the United States–Israel–Iran conflict. Regent Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo said the local government opened the PMI complaints post following reports from families of migrant workers in the Middle East region. “First, we received direct complaints via TikTok from a migrant worker in Oman. The person asked for protection and to return to Indonesia quickly,” Regent Rio told reporters in Situbondo on Thursday. He revealed that since the US–Israel and Iran war began, three Indonesian migrant workers in the Middle East have lodged complaints with the local government asking to return home as soon as possible. Therefore, Regent Rio asked the local Labour Service to open the post online and offline to facilitate families to report their relatives’ conditions. “We are continuing to build communication with relevant parties such as the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI), and tomorrow I will also meet with the Minister for PMI,” Rio said. One resident, Hosnia of Seletreng Village, Kapongan District, Situbondo, lodged a report regarding her younger sister Sri Wahyuningsih (40), who is in the war-affected region of Iran and US–Israel, i.e., Oman. “Since the Middle East war, almost every day my sister calls, asking to return home. It’s not safe there, the sound of explosions is constant,” she said at the PMI Complaints Post in front of Situbondo Regent’s Office. Hosnia said her sister has worked in Oman since August 2025, and previously worked in Saudi Arabia.
