Bekasi (ANTARA) - PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) has implemented situational open-close traffic engineering on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) Elevated Road on Sunday, based on police discretion due to the high volume of vehicles. “The open-close access to the MBZ Elevated Road towards Cikampek has been reinstated since this morning at 09:10 WIB as an effort to alleviate traffic density,” said General Manager of Operations and Maintenance at PT JJC, Desti Anggraeni, in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Sunday. She explained that the situational open-close scheme aims to prevent vehicle build-ups at the intersection between the MBZ Elevated Road and the existing Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, while maintaining traffic smoothness and safety. The company, along with the police, continues to monitor and regulate traffic situationally. Access will be reopened once traffic conditions return to normal and under control. Based on daily traffic data, the volume of vehicles heading away from Jakarta was recorded at 53,366, an increase of 76.43% compared to normal traffic of 30,247 vehicles. This increase in vehicle volume occurred throughout the day. In the morning period, the volume increased by 35.69%, then rose higher in the afternoon by 88.21%, and experienced the most significant rise in the evening at 195.81% compared to normal daily conditions. For the direction towards Jakarta, the vehicle volume was recorded at 26,985, relatively stable with a slight decrease of 0.65% compared to normal traffic of 27,161 vehicles. Overall, the total vehicles passing through the MBZ Elevated Road in both directions reached 80,351, indicating high public mobility during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, especially outbound from Jakarta. The company continues to urge road users on the MBZ Elevated Road to prioritise safety by ensuring the driver’s and vehicle’s condition is optimal, as well as maintaining sufficient battery power or fuel. Furthermore, to anticipate potential weather changes, especially rain that could affect visibility and road surface conditions, so that the journey can proceed safely and comfortably to the destination. Road users can also access the latest information and request toll road traffic services through the Jasa Marga Group’s 24-hour call centre at 133, Twitter @PTJASAMARGA, and the Travoy 4.5 application for iOS and Android users.
