Siska-Sudomo rift settled out of court
JAKARTA (JP): Fransiska Diah Widhowaty yesterday revoked a
lawsuit against her former husband, Sudomo, chief of the Supreme
Advisory Council, after both sides reached an agreement.
Fransiska's lawyer, Yan Apul and Associates, stated in letter:
"In connection with civil prosecution for alimony and collective
treasury registered No.155/Pdt.G/1992/PN.Jaksel on March 3, 1995,
between Fransiska Diah Widhowaty (litigant) against Sudomo
(accused), at the South Jakarta District Court, hereby we state
to cancel the lawsuit because both sides have reached a
compromise."
The letter didn't give the details of the agreement between
Admiral (ret) Sudomo, 69, and Fransiska, 37.
Fransiska, better known as Siska, filed a lawsuit against
Sudomo demanding the latter to divide the wealth they amassed
between their wedding in 1990 and divorce in 1994.
The wealth includes Rp 5 billion (US$2.3 million) in cash,
three cars and a luxurious house in Pondok Indah. The total is Rp
10 billion ($4.6 million).
An official at the South Jakarta District Court said that his
office had received revocation letter No.1166/YAA/95 from Yan
Apul and Associates dated May 12, 1995.
Chief secretary of the South Jakarta District Court, Suryad
Kusumaatmadja, said that with Yan Apul's letter, Siska's lawsuit
had been formally revoked.
He said the first trial session was scheduled for May 18,
1995, and he had summoned both sides to attend. But Siska's
cancellation means the trial will not be held.
Suryad explained that even after a lawsuit was tried, the
civil case can be revoked by an agreement between the litigant
and the accused.
But, he added, if one party broke the agreement, the other
party could prosecute. "So, Siska can file another lawsuit if
Sudomo fails to abide by the agreement."
Sudomo acknowledged that he had received a revocation letter
from Siska, but refused further comment. (29)
