Singh takes lead in RP golf classic
MANILA (AFP): India's Jeev Milkha Singh today failed to reproduce his record-breaking form from the first round but still did enough to give himself a welcome birthday treat and stay top of the leaderboard at the halfway mark of the Omega Tour's US$200,000 Philippine Classic.
Singh, on medication for a worrying stomach complaint, fired three birdies and four bogeys over the Sta Elena layout for a one over 73 and leads by two strokes from compatriot Arjun Atwal, who carded a level par 72.
Ironically, Singh suffered little discomfort with his stomach today and put the eight shot difference between his first and second rounds down to a loss of concentration on the back nine.
