Singer jailed for phone theft

JAKARTA (JP): An amateur club singer was jailed for four
months by the Central Jakarta District Court yesterday for
stealing a neighbor's cellular phone and running up Rp 4 million
in charges.

Yenny Debby Kaligis, a 33-year-old resident of Kebon Kosong in
Central Jakarta, was found guilty of theft. She had pleaded
guilty.

Prosecutor Shinta S. said Yenny visited Alfred L. Tohan's
house in November last year to chat with his wife. "While in the
house, she saw the cell phone on top of a cabinet, took it and
used it without permission," she said.

Alfred later filed a complaint with the police. (12)
