Singapore Takes No Action as Two Citizens Reportedly Join Israeli Military
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SINGAPORE – Nearly 200 Southeast Asians, including two Singaporeans, are serving in the Israeli military. A recent Channel News Asia (CNA) report cited data from an Israeli civil organisation, revealing that there are 111 Filipinos, 71 Thais, four Vietnamese, two Singaporeans, and one Indonesian registered with the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) as of March 2025.
Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) issued a clarification on 24 March 2026. The findings indicate that the two Singaporeans volunteered with the Sar-El Volunteer Corps in December 2016 for approximately two weeks.
One of them subsequently published a blog post encouraging volunteering with the Israeli organisation, which is claimed to have no involvement in any military activities with the IDF.
