attracts thousands of overseas student, including those from
Indonesia, to pursue quality education, not only at tertiary
level, but also at primary, secondary and pre-university levels.
The Singapore PSB Academy, a leading educational institution
with over thirty years' experience in training and education in
Singapore, expanded into Jakarta in July this year. The Singapore
PSB School is located in Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta and in
Kebon Jeruk in West Jakarta.
The Singapore PSB School in Indonesia uses the same curriculum
as schools in Singapore. The only exception is Indonesian Studies
which is taught in Bahasa Indonesia, complying with official
regulations governing National Plus schools, says the Singapore
PSB School's Head of Academics, Mr. Tan Kian Hock.
The Singapore educational system is well known world-wide for
its academic rigor, its emphasis on creative thinking, and its
systematic development of the scientific and mathematical mind.
Tan commented that what makes the Singapore PSB School stand out
is its uncompromising stand on quality and its continuous
training of the teachers to ensure that quality, for after all,
PSB is synonymous with Quality.
In-service teacher-training to complement the initial training
of the teachers is an important feature of the school's program
even though all teachers have already received formal teacher
training from accredited teacher-training institutions, like the
National Institute of Education (NIE) of Singapore, before they
are appointed to teach in the Singapore PSB School.
The PSB School in Indonesia offers classes at Primary,
Secondary and Pre-University. The standard of the PSB School is
benchmarked against international educational standards. Students
in the PSB School sit the International Primary School Leaving
Examinations (iPSLE) conducted by the Singapore Ministry of
Education. The iPSLE is the international version of the PSLE
which all Singapore students sit at the end of Primary Six.
At the end of Secondary Four, PSB School students sit the
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (iGCSE).
At the end of pre-university, PSB School students sit the GCE
Advanced Level. Both the iGCSE and Advanced Level examinations
are conducted by the world-renown University of Cambridge
International Examinations.
Mr. Tony Capati, CEO, explained a unique feature of the PSB
School. This is the Complete Career Pathway which the school has
put in place. Besides an academic pathway which takes the
students to Advanced Levels and beyond, PSB School offers the
students an alternative career pathway in a specialized field of
studies by embarking on the PSB Academy's Diploma and Advanced
Diploma program. Students could continue along this route
immediately after iGCSE, and from there proceed to a tertiary
qualification they aspire to achieve with the various PSB
university partners in Australia, the UK and the US.
