Simultaneous Corn Planting in Q1 2026: POLRI Distributes Agricultural Machinery to Farmers
POLRI distributed agricultural equipment (alsintan) to farmers in Cikarang Pusat, Bekasi, West Java. The assistance comprises four units of hand tractors, four units of water pumps, and five units of hand sprayers. In addition, the force distributed superior seeds and high-quality fertilisers to 215 farmers who are members of 44 farmer groups nurtured by Polda Metro Jaya.
“We provide financing support through an internal cooperative for needs from seeds, fertilisers, to farm equipment,” Wakapolri Komjen Dedi Prasetyo said at the Penanaman Jagung Serentak Kuartal I 2026 event on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The assistance is described as a manifestation of police support for modernising the agricultural sector. Modernisation of farming techniques is expected to significantly boost yields.
“This physical support is a small part of the larger ecosystem we are building together. Most importantly, the involvement of many parties to ensure that these tools deliver real economic impact for the households of farmers,” he added.
Komjen Dedi said POLRI plays the role of facilitator in strengthening the food production ecosystem. He noted that farmers are the frontline of the nation in realising sustainable and self-reliant food self-sufficiency.
Earlier, he explained that in Q1 this year the national target for corn planting exceeds 100,000 hectares. In 2025, POLRI had succeeded in planting corn on 661,000 hectares out of the national target of 1 million hectares. “In 2026, the shortfall to the 1 million hectare target will continue to be pursued until it is met. If the target is achieved, national corn production could reach or even exceed 4 million tonnes,” he said.
In addition to corn planting, the land managed is also used for other crops to support the MBG (Makan Bergizi Gratis) supply chain ecosystem. POLRI also partners with various parties including plantation companies, PTPN, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the Social Forestry program, and the private sector to expand planting areas.
To strengthen the programme, POLRI is also collaborating with Bank Himbara to provide Credit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) access to farmer groups, as well as funding through the POLRI cooperative to assist needs for seeds, fertilisers and farm equipment.
