SIG: Talavera Jetty project in Tuban to begin operations this year to bolster exports
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) has confirmed that the Talavera Project Jetty development and production facilities in the Socorejo area, Jenu District, Tuban Regency, East Java, will operate at optimal level by mid-2026 to bolster exports and industry competitiveness. SIG President Director Indrieffouny Indra said the project in the Socorejo area, Jenu District, Tuban Regency, will be a milestone not only in strengthening distribution capacity but also in contributing to the competitiveness of the export market and strengthening the global distribution network. ‘This project will contribute amid domestic market challenges that are increasingly competitive, as well as the overcapacity conditions faced by the domestic cement industry, and it is hoped to be completed soon to be ready to operate optimally by mid-2026,’ Indrieffouny said in a Jakarta statement on Sunday. The development project for the jetty and production facilities is part of a strategic collaboration between SIG through its subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk and Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, which has been established since 2021. The capacity increase will be achieved by building a new jetty trestle and jetty platform connected to the existing jetty. To support production, the project also includes facilities such as a blending silo system with a capacity of 8,000 tonnes, a clinker silo system with a capacity of 15,000 tonnes, and two cement silo systems each with a capacity of 18,000 tonnes. In addition, the project involves the installation of transport facilities including a tube conveyor of 4.1 km, a tripper conveyor, and a ship loader with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour (tph) to convey bulk cement from the plant to ships berthed at the jetty.
