Sido Muncul Wins Gold at IRCA 2026 Regulatory Compliance Awards
At the event, Sido Muncul received an award in the Notable Enterprise in Regulatory Compliance category with a GOLD rating under PROSPER A in the Healthcare Industry sector. The award was presented by Hukumonline Board Advisor Ahadi Bayu Tedjo at Le Meridien Hotel on May 22. The PROSPER A category is awarded to companies with high regulatory exposure and business complexity, requiring excellent and sustainable legal compliance and corporate governance. In this context, compliance is integral to business sustainability, supporting risk management, reputation maintenance, and long-term stakeholder trust. The evaluation process thoroughly assessed the implementation of compliance and corporate governance practices, including the capabilities of the Corporate Legal and Corporate Secretary divisions in supporting effective and sustainable compliance. This highlights that robust compliance is underpinned by dedicated functions overseeing its implementation and collaborating across all departments to ensure consistent application as part of business sustainability. Concurrently, Sido Muncul’s Head of Corporate Legal and Corporate Secretary Manager, Ribka Lydia Atedjadi, was nominated for ‘The Most Inspiring Leader in Regulatory Compliance’ and placed in the top 50 out of over 130 participants. This reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening compliance culture and corporate governance. Sido Muncul’s President Director Dr. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat expressed gratitude for the achievement, stating the award proves the company’s efforts to comply with all regulations align with its goals. ‘I am grateful to receive this award, as our target is to be a fully compliant company,’ he told detikcom at House of Jamu in Cipete, Jakarta, on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Irwan Hidayat stated regulatory compliance is the cornerstone of the company’s operations, as Sido Muncul’s goal from the outset has been to be fully compliant with no violations. ‘I aspire for Sido Muncul to be like global companies that strictly adhere to regulations. Nothing must go wrong; we follow all government rules,’ he explained. He emphasised Sido Muncul is committed to adhering to regulations from all government agencies. Full compliance is a key foundation for building public trust. ‘We comply to earn public trust and aim to inspire other companies that adherence actually enhances credibility,’ he added. However, Irwan acknowledged that full regulatory compliance is challenging, especially maintaining consistency amid dynamic government policies. Nevertheless, Sido Muncul remains committed to adhering to all regulations and even implementing higher standards than legal requirements. For instance, in factory cleanliness, Sido Muncul enforces stringent hygiene standards at its Semarang plant, with each product batch undergoing rigorous quality control to ensure safety and cleanliness. Environmentally, the company has won the Ministry of Environment’s Proper Emas award six consecutive times by processing herbal waste into plant energy instead of disposing of it. In social responsibility, Sido Muncul applies Total Company Responsibility, consistently implementing CSR programs that exceed established standards. ‘We strive to comply with all government regulations—from agencies, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, BPOM, Ministry of Industry. We follow all rules. Even making the factory clean,’ he explained. ‘The commitment is to be 100% compliant, so I am grateful for this Indonesia Regulatory Compliance Awards,’ he added. Furthermore, Irwan Hidayat hopes government agencies will emulate private sector approaches in conducting strict independent regulatory compliance assessments. He believes awards based on thorough audits would bring pride to the business community. The Indonesia Regulatory Compliance Awards (IRCA) 2026 recognises companies for building compliance strategies and leadership that ensure all business activities comply with Indonesian regulations. The main focus of evaluation is not only the level of regulatory compliance but also the strategies, systems, and leadership aspects applied in corporate governance. Categories are assessed through a four-tier PROSPER classification system—A, B, C, and D—grouping companies based on industry characteristics and business complexity. Prosper A is awarded to companies in highly regulated sectors with high business complexity, while Prosper B targets those in highly regulated sectors with moderate complexity.
