Siak Traffic Police Act Swiftly to Fill Potholes and Prevent Accidents
Personnel from the Siak Police Traffic Unit went directly to inspect potholes on the Perawang-Dayun road at Km 63, Dayun Sub-district, Siak Regency. The traffic officers temporarily filled the potholes with sand to prevent accidents on Thursday (19 February 2026).
Siak Police Chief AKBP Sepuh Ade Irsyam Siregar said the swift action was taken to anticipate traffic accidents caused by damaged road conditions deemed hazardous to road users, particularly motorcyclists.
“Despite the heavy rain, personnel continued carrying out the filling work because the road conditions were sufficiently dangerous. This is a demonstration of our commitment to safeguarding road users and preventing traffic accidents,” said AKBP Sepuh in a statement on Friday (20 February 2026).
He added that the filling was temporary whilst awaiting permanent repairs from the relevant authorities. His office had also submitted a report requesting that the road section receive further attention.
“We hope the relevant authorities can promptly follow up with permanent repairs so that public safety and comfort whilst driving can be assured,” he added.
Meanwhile, a local resident, Dahlan (42), expressed appreciation for the swift action taken by the Siak Police Traffic Unit. He said the potholes had long been a source of complaint from residents as they frequently endangered motorists.
“The potholes on that road are very large and deep, making them extremely hazardous. We are grateful to the police who continued working despite the rain,” he said.
Evi (35), a road user who travels the route daily, echoed these sentiments. She hoped permanent repairs would be carried out promptly to prevent accident casualties.
With this temporary filling in place, it is hoped that road safety and order will be maintained within the Siak Police jurisdiction, minimising the potential for accidents on the Perawang-Dayun Cross Road at Km 63, Dayun Sub-district.
