JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, has revealed that the planned shipment of 2,200 tonnes of rice for the needs of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is at risk of failure due to the war in the Middle East region.

“Including Bulog, which shipped 2,200 tonnes of rice at the beginning of Ramadan, but two days after the shipment, war broke out, so it is very likely that the rice will not be able to be dispatched,” said Irfan during a working meeting with the DPR RI’s Commission VIII on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Irfan stated that the total rice requirement for Hajj officials amounts to 30 tonnes, intended for around 1,600 people.

The rice is still planned to be sent via air routes.

“The total rice requirement of 30 tonnes is for 1,600 officials. So, the rice that we might be able to send is only for the officials,” he said.

For pasta spices, the total requirement reaches 307.3 tonnes, with production realisation at 287.3 tonnes or 93.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, the shipments are being carried out via sea and air routes in stages.

“The shipment via sea is 57 tonnes, arriving on 6 and 12 April 2026. Via air, the first stage is 185 tonnes and the second stage is 65.3 tonnes,” said Irfan.

As for ready-to-eat meals, the requirement is 3,081,230 portions for 205,420 pilgrims and officials.

As of 30 March 2026, 1,659,390 portions have arrived in Makkah, with the target for full distribution completion on 25 April 2026.
