Ship captain killed

JAKARTA (JP): A sailor surrendered yesterday to the Sunda Kelapa Police sub-precinct for killing his captain on a fishing boat.

The Harbor Police Chief Lt. Col. Arie Sueba said the man, identified as Hs., killed Suwito, 40, on Dec. 2. when the ship was on the Java sea.

"The suspect was angry because the captain often treated him improperly," Arie said.

The 30-year-old sailor axed and stabbed the captain in the neck and stomach while he was asleep, he said.

He said the suspect, who lived in Tegal, Central Java, kept the body in the ship's cold storage.

The suspect admitted killing the captain when other crew members found the body the next day, he said.
