JAKARTA (JP): One of Hollywood's sexiest actresses, Sharon
Stone, is pursuing a new role as a committed activist in the
promotion of scientific research for AIDS.
Her high-profile efforts are directed at joining luxurious
leather handbag producer Louis Vuitton. Stone and Louis Vuitton
have been working together to produce new lines for Louis
Vuitton's vanity cases, officially launched at the 57th
International Venice Film Festival recently.
Stone has designed the luxury cases to benefit the American
Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).
During the event, the foundation also launched the benefit
event Cinema Against AIDS Venice. The program has been an
important and successful fund-raising event for nearly a decade,
generating over US$5 million for essential AIDS research.
The new line of products include amFar One, a large hard-sided
beauty case in monogrammed canvas with natural cowhide details,
such as a hand-stitched handle and protected edges. The deep red
goatskin lining enhances the sublime beauty of this product.
The second piece is amFar Two, a small hard-sided beauty case
in monogrammed canvas, with a deep red morroco leather lining.
AmfAR three is a soft beauty tote bag in monogrammed canvas
with a shoulder strap in natural cowhide, lined with deep red
alcantara. One side of the case features two vertical, extendible
pockets and one patch pocket; the other side features a patch
pocket with a leather strap for bottles.
AmfAR is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of
AIDS research, prevention and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related
public policies.
Since l985, the foundation has invested over $166 million in
support of its programs, primarily through grants to more than
1,800 research teams worldwide. (raw)
