Severe Traffic Jam in Puri Kembangan Due to Flooding, Police Implement Traffic Diversions
Deputy Head of Traffic Police at West Jakarta Police Resort, AKP Muhammad Ilham, stated that traffic diversions are being implemented by temporarily closing vehicle access from the Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road heading towards the Puri Ring Road. “Those coming from the toll towards Jakarta-Tangerang to the Ring Road, we are closing it first to reduce congestion at the flood site,” said Ilham, as quoted by Antara on Tuesday (5/5/2026). By 11:00 WIB, traffic flow from Cengkareng to Kembangan and vice versa was jammed to crawling dense. Flooding up to 60-80 centimetres has caused several vehicles to be stuck under the toll road overpass. Meanwhile, traffic on other routes remains monitored as normal, though moving slowly due to the queue effect around the puddles. As a handling effort, a joint team of around 50 personnel has been deployed to regulate traffic while assisting with flood management. “We have coordinated, with about 20 personnel from us, and the total joint team possibly more than 50 from various agencies,” Ilham added. In addition to traffic management, puddle handling is being carried out through water pumping by the West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-District Office (Sudin SDA). Several Motorcycles Stall A flood has also caused several motorcycles to stall and pile up on the side of the Outer Ring Road towards Cengkareng. This condition has made traffic on Kembangan Raya Road and Outer Ring Road severely jammed. Congestion was observed as dense starting at 09:00 WIB, when vehicle volume increased amid the flooded road conditions. Horns blared competitively, and arguments were inevitable.
