A total of seven suitcases belonging to Thai tourists went missing outside the Sukapura Pavilion in Wonotoro Village, Probolinggo Regency. Authorities have highlighted the issue of illegal parking as one of the contributing factors to theft in the Bromo tourism area.

The Probolinggo Regency government affirmed that it has prepared a number of official parking locations for tourists visiting the Bromo area. These designated parking sites include the Seruni Point Glass Bridge Terminal Area, Cemoro Lawang Rest Area, Ngadisari Grand Pavilion, and Wisma Ucik.

"Do not park in inappropriate locations, especially those without attendants, and do not leave valuable belongings in vehicles," said Probolinggo Regency Secretary Ugas Irwanto on Tuesday (17 February 2026).

He added that the case remains under police investigation, with officers still collecting CCTV footage from the vicinity.

"We hope the police can swiftly resolve this matter, as the perpetrators have damaged the tourism sector, particularly in Probolinggo Regency, which is currently striving to develop its tourism industry. We hope the culprits are apprehended soon," Ugas explained.
