Seven die in bus collision

SEMARANG, Central Java: At least seven people were killed and
dozens of others badly injured in a head-on collision between two
buses in Karanganyar yesterday.

All victims, several of which have yet to be identified, have
been moved to the Karanganyar general hospital.

Sources at the provincial police headquarters said that the
collision occurred when Giri Indah, which was on its way from
Karanganyar to Jakarta, skidded and hit the oncoming Gaya Putra.

The sources said several of those injured died at the hospital
and 19 other were still being treated, Antara reported.

Crew members and drivers from the two buses were among those
killed.(rms)
