The government is enforcing work from home (WFH) for some private employees and civil servants from 25 to 27 March 2026. Menteri Sekretaris Negara Prasetyo Hadi explained that this policy aims to save fuel oil (BBM), even though there are no supply issues for national energy security. Prasetyo acknowledged that the WFH policy is under discussion and will be announced to the public once a final decision is made. This policy is a direct instruction from President Prabowo. Several sectors must still report to the office or workplace. “I need to clarify that it will apply to certain sectors only. To avoid misunderstanding, for example, the service, industrial, and trade sectors will likely not be part of this policy,” Prasetyo explained. In line with Prasetyo’s statement, returnees are flocking back to urban areas (especially Jabodetabek) after Eid 2026. They are returning to work as the joint holidays for Nyepi and Idul Fitri 2026 officially end tomorrow, 25 March 2026. The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, urged returnees eligible for work from anywhere (WFA) to delay their return trips. “We urge the public to take advantage of work from anywhere (WFA). So, don’t pile up (returning) on 24 March,” Agus said, quoted from Kompas.com on Tuesday (24/3/2026). Nevertheless, Agus and his team will still implement traffic engineering to prevent excessive congestion. Today at 14:00 WIB, the national one-way scheme will be enforced from the Kalikangkung toll gate at KM 414 to KM 70 of the Cikampek Utara toll road. “If the national return flow one-way on the 24th is dense and on the 25th we will extend it, we will implement another one-way. So, there will be one-way on the 24th, 25th, up to the 26th if there is still traffic volume, we will open it again,” Agus explained. It is hoped that with WFA and WFH, along with the urging for returnees to delay their trips, this will support the government’s policy.
