Serang Regent Distributes IDR 1.19 Billion in Aid to Sumatra Disaster Victims
Regent of Serang Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah has distributed humanitarian aid worth IDR 1.19 billion to communities impacted by floods and landslides in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
The aid consists of funds raised through donations by Civil Servants (ASN) of the Serang Regency Government along with various community elements.
The distribution of the aid was carried out symbolically at the Hall of the Regional Secretariat of Aceh Tamiang Regency on Friday (8/5). The aid was handed over directly by Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah to the Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Pahmi along with the local regional government apparatus.
During the event, Ratu Zakiyah—as Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah is affectionately known—was accompanied by Deputy Chair I of the Serang Regency DPRD Maksum, Head of the BPBD Executor Ajat Sudrajat, Head of the Social Services Yadi Priyadi Rochdian, Head of the Welfare Section Rochyan Aglan, Head of the Prokopim Section Leni Yuliani, and Head of Public Relations of the DPRD Secretariat Siti Komariah.
Ratu Zakiyah stated that the aid represents the care and solidarity of the Serang Regency community towards residents affected by disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. She expressed deep condolences for the flash floods and landslides that occurred at the end of November 2025.
Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), up to November 2025, 2,726 hydrometeorological disaster events were recorded in Indonesia. The flash floods that struck the three provinces reportedly claimed more than 400 lives.
“On behalf of the Serang Regency Government and the entire Serang Regency community, we extend our deepest condolences for the flood and landslide disaster that has struck this region. We share in the sorrow over the loss of lives and the infrastructure damage that has occurred,” said Ratu Zakiyah just before the aid handover.
The presence of the Serang Regency Government, according to Ratu Zakiyah, is a form of humanitarian care and solidarity towards the disaster-affected communities in Aceh Province, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra.
“We are here bringing the mandate and spirit of brotherhood from the Serang Regency community. We want to convey that you are not alone. We continue to pray that conditions in this region will soon recover and the community can return to activities as usual,” she said.
Ratu Zakiyah explained that the distributed aid comes from synergies between the local government, regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), community organisations, religious organisations, youth groups, and student elements in Serang Regency.
The largest contribution came from ASN of the Regional Device Organisations (OPD) of Serang Regency, which collected IDR 926,791,000 from 29 local government agencies. In addition to cash aid, OPDs also provided logistical support in the form of wearable clothing, prayer equipment, and food supplies.
Meanwhile, 29 sub-districts in Serang Regency contributed IDR 124,132,000 in aid, supplemented with basic necessities and instant noodles. Support also came from BUMDs, namely Perumda Tirta Albantani, BPR Serang, and Bank bjb KCK Banten, with a total aid of IDR 70,800,000.
Furthermore, several community and religious organisations actively participated, including FKDT, PCNU, Muslimat NU, Lazis NU, BKPRMI, Badko TPQ, TP-PKK, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), KNPI, Himawar, and the Kramatwatu Student Association, with a total aid of IDR 68,384,000.
Ratu Zakiyah emphasised that the humanitarian aid was distributed directly through courtesy visits or transfers to the official accounts of the authorised local governments.
The targeted areas for aid distribution include Aceh Tamiang Regency, Central Aceh, East Aceh, North Aceh, Bener Meriah, Bireuen, Gayo Lues, Pidie, Tanah Datar, and Central Tapanuli.
“We hope this aid can alleviate the burden on the affected communities and serve as encouragement that many fellow countrymen care and are ready to help,” she said.
On that occasion, Ratu Zakiyah appreciated the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government for the warm reception and good coordination during the aid distribution process.
“We thank the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government for the warm reception and excellent coordination, ensuring that this aid distribution event runs smoothly,” she stated.
Ratu Zakiyah hopes that conditions in the affected areas in Aceh Province, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra will soon recover and that the communities will be granted strength in facing the calamity.
“We are optimistic that, God willing, conditions in this region can soon recover and the pulse of community life can return to normal as before,” she explained.
