Several instances of youth brawls have occurred during Ramadan in the jurisdiction of the Serang Police, Banten. As a preventative measure, the Serang Police are conducting midnight patrols.

The Chief of the Serang Police, AKBP Andri Kurniawan, stated that in recent times, the Serang Police jurisdiction has seen an increase in public order disturbances, such as youth brawls, illegal racing, and other criminal acts. This situation has become a serious concern for the police force.

“We will not tolerate anyone who intends to commit crimes within the jurisdiction of the Serang Police. We will take firm action in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Andri on Wednesday (25 February 2026).

Large-scale Enhanced Routine Patrols (KRYD) will target areas considered prone to crime and places where young people gather. Officers will also inspect suspicious vehicles and provide guidance on public safety and order.

Andri explained that routine patrols will be conducted daily from 11:00 PM to just before the pre-dawn meal (sahur) throughout Ramadan. This measure is expected to reduce crime rates and prevent potential security disturbances.

“The presence of police in the community during vulnerable hours is expected to provide a sense of security and comfort, especially for residents who are observing religious practices during Ramadan,” he said.

During patrols held in the Petir, Tunjung Teja, and Cikeusal sub-districts on Tuesday (24 February) from 11:00 PM to Wednesday (25 February) at 3:00 AM, a number of young people who were still gathering late at night were dispersed in a humane manner.

“We urge parents to supervise their children more closely, especially at night. Ensure they do not get involved in actions that could harm themselves or others,” said Andri.

In addition to large-scale patrols, the Serang Police have also established an Integrated Post as a preventative measure against significant incidents in the jurisdiction.

“This post serves as a coordination centre for responding quickly to every report from the public,” he said.

He requested that all relevant parties continue to collaborate and work together to maintain public order and security.

“We invite all elements of society and the Muspika (local government and community leaders) to jointly carry out enhanced routine patrols in order to prevent public order disturbances,” he said.
