Sentul will soon have world-class hospital
JAKARTA (JP): An Indonesia-Singapore joint venture company, Gleneagles Hospital Corporation, will build an international- standard hospital with a total investment of Rp 60 billion (approximately US$28 million) in the plush Royal Sentul Highlands housing complex.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the project was signed here at a ceremony by Bambang Trihatmodjo and James T. Riady, respectively chief commissioner and president of the housing developer, Gleneagles International Chairman Tony Tan, as well as Johannes Oentoro and Ronnie Tan from Gleneagles Hospital Corporation.
The share composition for the hospital is as follows: Gleneagles Hospital Corporation, 60 percent, and Royal Sentul Highlands, 40 percent.
Earlier this week the housing developer held a ground breaking ceremony, which marked the start of the construction of a 450- room five-star hotel. The housing complex lies in a sprawling 2,000-hectare plot of land in Sentul, a scenic area around 30 kilometers south of Jakarta.
"The development of the hospital is expected to reduce the number of Indonesians going abroad for medical treatment," Bambang said.
"The (feasibility) study is slated to be completed within six months," said Tong Padilla, an executive of Royal Sentul Highlands.
The hospital is scheduled to be completed in two years.(has)
