Sempati plane skids in Kendari
JAKARTA: A Fokker-100 belonging to PT Sempati Airlines
with 80 people aboard skidded off the runway at the Monginsidi
Airport, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi yesterday, the company said.
No one was injured in the 2 p.m. accident which forced
authorities to close the airport for several hours.
Sempati spokesperson Erny told The Jakarta Post that the
aircraft was undamaged. She said the airplane would be towed back
onto the runway so it could continue its flight to Ujungpandang,
Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Jakarta this morning.
Head of the Southeast provincial transportation office Johan
Efendi said the airline company in cooperation with airport
authorities would investigate the cause of the mishap, Antara
